After teaching at Cal State Fullerton for 15 years, Tanjasiri was recruited by the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, one of only 51 cancer centers nationwide funded by the National Cancer Institute. She’s spent her career focused on cancer research and prevention, particularly in communities of color who are at the greatest risk.
Structural and Social Drivers of Health and Cancer Health Disparities Research
Lecture given by Dr. Scarlett Lin Gomez, MPH, PhD, University of California, San Francisco, in honor of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We are increasingly aware of the impact of structural and social determinants as fundamental drivers of health inequities, but how do we design and implement population-level studies to investigate the role of these factors? This presentation will present a framework and examples of "cells to society" studies utilizing this framework.
