The Melanoma Translational Working Group (Melanoma TWG) has 17 members from the following research programs: Growth Factors and Signaling, Cancer Prevention and Control, Onco-Imaging and Spectroscopy and Carcinogenesis. The Melanoma TWG is a component of the Chemical and Structural Biology Research Program.

Current Focus

• Improved methods to detect melanoma using both novel imaging methods and biomarkers
• Strategies for melanoma chemoprevention and to prevent melanoma metastasis
• Developing novel therapeutic strategies for melanoma treatment

Summary of Ongoing Clinical Trials and Research Projects

Melanoma TWG group members are key personnel in three clinical trials underway at Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and across the nation and four distinct projects that focus on melanoma cancer translational research. They also are involved in four innovative new projects in melanoma cancer that are being developed as applications for NCI grant funding.
