UC Irvine Healthcare presents "Combating Colon Cancer: From Stem Cells to Surgery" an education program with panel scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Sue and Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center (on the campus of UC Irvine), 845 Health Sciences Road, Irvine, CA 92697. UC Irvine panel members include Drs. Joseph C. Carmichael, Kenneth J. Chang, Steven D. Mills, Michael J. Stamos, Marian Waterman and Jason A. Zell. At the end of this program, participants should be able to 1) improve utilization of immunohistochemical analysis of pathologic specimens to tailor chemotherapy 2) understand the stem cell basis for colorectal cancer and the potential for therapy and 3) increase the utilization of less invasive approaches in the treatment of colorectal cancer.
