Music Therapy Program

Research supports that music can be an effective means in promoting healing and enhancing the quality of life for patients. Music has a positive effect in addressing physical, emotional, psychological, social, cognitive, and spiritual needs of patients.  Benefits of music therapy include lessened pain, anxiety, nausea, stress, and depression.

The Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center provides music therapy for inpatients, outpatients and their families.  Tim Ringgold, MT-BC, NICU-MT, is a board certified music therapist providing individual and group sessions at the UC Irvine Medical Center.  Music therapy is offered at no cost to the patient.  Appointments with our music therapist are provided at flexible times.  You may ask your physician to submit a request or contact Tim by pager at 714.506.0672.
