Each March, the Partnership holds a Research Collaboration Forum. The purpose of this event is to facilitate collaborative research projects between the CSUF and UCI-CFCCC faculty members. The format includes networking, general announcements and brief presentations on research concepts by faculty. The next forum will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the Fullerton Marriott, located next the CSUF campus.
Inaugural Research Collaboration Forum
More than two dozen administrators and researchers from Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center gathered on March 7, 2013 for the inaugural Research Collaboration Forum. The event, held from 4-6 p.m. at the Podlich Conference Center at UC Irvine Medical Center in Orange, represents the first faculty mixer of the Partnership for Cancer Health Disparities Research program.
Highlights included an announcement by UC Irvine leadership that an additional $100,000 had been donated to the partnership via the Hubbell Research and Education Fund. The fund, named after Dr. Allan Hubbell, professor emeritus of medicine, public health, and nursing science at UC Irvine and co-principal investigator for the partnership, will be used to support an additional pilot project.
In addition to networking, the forum included an overview of nine pilot projects, each which involve at least one investigator from each institution. The projects were shared by faculty who applied for a $100,000 grant to generate preliminary data for RO1 or other competitively funded grant applications via the Partnership‘s first Request for Applications.
